TAMNA
Settle the legendary island kingdom — free online strategy board game
What is TAMNA?
TAMNA is a free online multiplayer strategy board game set on the mythical island of Tamna — the ancient name for Jeju Island off the southern coast of Korea. Two to four players compete in real time, directly in the browser with no download or install required. Invite friends anywhere in the world, or jump in with AI bots at three difficulty levels.
The goal is straightforward: build settlements, roads, and cities across the island, trade five unique resources, and be the first player to reach ten victory points. But pulling it off demands sharp planning, smart trading, and the ability to read your opponents — making every game a fresh strategic puzzle.
Each turn you roll two dice and collect resources from tiles adjacent to your buildings. Spend those resources to expand your network, negotiate trades with other players or the bank, and buy development cards that can swing the game at a critical moment. Claim the Longest Road or Greatest Force bonus for two extra points and pull ahead when it matters most. Sign up to save your record and climb the weekly leaderboard, or start without an account in practice mode right now.
How to play
TAMNA uses five island resources to build and trade. Here is a quick overview of what each resource does and how a round flows.
Clay (송이)
Volcanic stone from Jeju's lava fields. Used to build roads and settlements.
Wool (말총)
Mane hair of the Jeju pony. Essential for founding new settlements on the island.
Grain (감귤)
The famous Jeju tangerine. Required for settlements, cities, and development cards.
Ore (먹돌)
Black basalt from Jeju's volcanic bedrock. Used to upgrade settlements to cities and buy development cards.
Lumber (목재)
Timber from the ancient Gotjawal forest. Needed to build roads and settlements.
Setup: Place two free settlements and two roads anywhere on the board. The tiles each settlement touches become your starting resource sources.
Dice production: At the start of your turn, roll two dice. Every player with a building adjacent to a tile whose number matches the roll receives that resource.
Trading: When you have surplus or need a specific resource, trade 4:1 with the bank, 3:1 or 2:1 at a Naru (harbor), or negotiate directly with another player.
Building: Spend resources to build roads (clay + lumber), settlements (clay + lumber + horsehair + grain), or cities (2 grain + 3 ore). Cities replace settlements and double their production.
Development cards: Buy a card with basalt + horsehair + tangerine. Play a General, Road Building, Year of Plenty, or Monopoly card for strategic effects, or collect Victory Point cards for a hidden score boost.
Dokkaebi (7): When the dice total seven, the Dokkaebi (Jeju goblin) strikes. Players with eight or more cards must discard half, and the active player moves the Dokkaebi to block a tile of their choice.
Longest Road & Greatest Force: The player with the longest road (5+ segments) earns +2 points. The player who plays the most General cards (3+) earns the Greatest Force badge worth +2 points.
Win: Combine points from settlements, cities, development cards, and bonuses. The first player to reach the target score (10 by default) wins!

The world of Tamna
Tamna (耽羅) is the ancient kingdom that once ruled Jeju Island, a volcanic jewel off the southern coast of the Korean peninsula. In TAMNA the game board brings that world to life: hexagonal tiles of black basalt (먹돌, Jeju's signature volcanic rock), dense Gotjawal (곶자왈) old-growth forest, sun-bright tangerine groves, and the windswept coast where haenyeo divers surface with a breath-catching "sumbisori."
The horsehair resource represents the mane of the Jeju pony (조랑말), a sturdy breed that has roamed the island for centuries. Stone grandfather statues called Dolhareubang (돌하르방) stand as silent guardians across the island — and across the game board. Roll a seven and the Dokkaebi (도깨비), a mischievous goblin from Korean folklore, sweeps onto the board to disrupt resource production. Navigate these island forces wisely, trade shrewdly at the Naru harbor, and build a kingdom worthy of Tamna's legendary name.
